Defense Minister of Ukraine Yuri Yekhanurov has reported to President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko about groundlessness of the accusations against him.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, Yuri Yekhanurov said this to journalists after his meeting with the President on Thursday.

Yuri Yekhanurov noted that Victor Yushchenko listened to him and commissioned his new Chief of Staff Vira Ulyanchenko to investigate into the situation.

The Defense Minister showed journalists some documents, which confirm legal activities of his institution in the land sphere and in the sphere of food purchases for servicemen.

Yuri Yekhanurov described the government’s position on this issue as “bullying”.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on May 20, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko claimed that she would ask President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko to dismiss Yuri Yekhanurov as the Defense Minister of Ukraine due to corruption discovered as a result of an inspection by the Supervision and Revision Department.
