President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko has criticized the government’s budget policy and insisted on an immediate revision of the state budget.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, he said this speaking at “Authorities and Business Are Partners” Forum in Kyiv on May 25. In particular, the President stressed, since the beginning of the year, a tendency has appeared when 28-40% of the budget are fulfilled in the last working day of a month.

Besides, the President stressed, as of the beginning of May, the total of advance tax payments in the state budget made up 12 billion hryvnias, and has soared by 31% compared to the beginning of the year.

Victor Yushchenko also stressed that, as of May 1, the amount of value added tax that had not been paid off from the state budget to businesses made up 13.5 billion hryvnias. In the opinion of the President, this, together with the unsolved problem of channeling a financial resource to recapitalize the banking system, indicates that significant circulating assets are withdrawn from the country’s economics, which will cause a fall of the gross domestic product. According to the information of the President, the GDP fell by 20-23% in the first quarter of 2009.

“I would like to stress that we have an immoral budget policy, even from the point of view of today”, the President said.
