Verkhovna Rada not to fix new date of presidential election this week

This week the parliament will not consider any draft decree on fixing a new date of the regular presidential election.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, Verkhovna Rada Speaker V Lytvyn claimed this to a press conference on Monday.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on May 12, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine ruled unconstitutional the parliament’s decision to schedule the regular presidential election for October 25, 2009.

On May 20, a new draft decree, stipulating to hold the election on January 17, 2010, was registered in parliament.
