President pins hopes on Constitutional Court
To resolve conflict with Foreign Minister
Victor Yushchenko has told a press conference in Donetsk he is entitled to appoint and dismiss Ukraine’s foreign minister, according to the President`s press-office.
“I am convinced that, since the President is in charge of Ukraine’s foreign policy under the Constitution, this includes his right to nominate and sack the foreign minister, and this is the essence of my position,” he said, adding that the country’s leading lawyers agreed with him.
The President expressed hopes the Constitutional Court of Ukraine would resolve the conflict.
“The Constitutional Court will put an end to this empty discussion.”
