Archbishop of Cherkassy and Kanev Sofroniy (Cherkassy eparchy of Ukrainian Orthodox Church) said about his intention to go to law because of use of his personality in agitation reel of candidate for the post of the President of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych without consent of the priest.
He said this in the interview to “Press center” Cherkassy newspaper. According to his words, the demonstration of the agitation reel did a moral damage to him. Archbishop of Cherkassy and Kanev Sofroniy said: “Who has a right without my consent and knowledge to do an agitation reel and show it in whole Ukraine? After viewing this reel many people had an impression that I allegedly blessed candidate for the post of the President Victor Yanukovych”.
According to opinion of metropolitan Sofroniy, this reel is faked-up: “Five years ago Prime Minister of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych visited our cathedral, and I received him as it is necessary to receive the leader of the government – I brought him to the cathedral and told him about the cathedral. It was shot”. Archbishop of Cherkassy and Kanev Sofroniy underlined that a church is out of politics.
