The Party of Regions may replace its leader.
According to the information of Den daily (of 7 February), referring to its own sources, the nearest session of the Party of Regions, due in March, will raise the question of replacing the party leadership. “Probably, Victor Yanukovych will become just a “VIP person”, or an honorary president, as Yushchenko in Our Ukraine”. Actually, the party is not going to reduce the role of “the only leader”. The changes will take place because the statements of Victor Yanukovych-Prime Minister more and more often discord with the statements of Victor Yanukovych – a part leader”, the newspaper reads.
The newspaper adds that another reason for the replacement is that the party’s declarations on all the key issues, such as NATO, EU, SES, cannot be used by the head of the government.
According to the information of the newspaper’s sources, there are three candidacies for the post of the Party of Regions leader – party’s faction leader Raisa Bohatyriova, Deputy Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, and lawmaker Borys Kolesnykov.
