Party of Regions to initiate early presidential and parliamentary elections

The Party of Regions will propose to hold early presidential and parliamentary elections on 30 September 2007.

“Segodnia” daily informs on this, referring to Party of Regions faction deputy chief Vassyl Kysseliov.

In particular, this Friday, 2 March, they plan to register in the Verkhovna Rada a draft law on carrying out early presidential and parliamentary elections on 30 September 2007.

According to V.Kysseliov, the Ukrainian history already knows such a precedent. “In 1994, to solve the conflict, then-President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma and speaker Ivan Pliushch agreed to carry out general early elections”, the lawmaker said.
