Who was suspected of rigging the 2004 presidential election

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine cancelled its decree of 8 December 2004 on the pre-schedule dismissal of Central Electoral Commission members.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, 261 lawmaker out of 262, registered in the session hall, voted for this on Tuesday night.

VR cancelled also its decree of 8 December 2004 on appointing new CEC members.

According to lawmaker Volodymyr Falko, these decisions implicate the cessation of authorities of the current CEC, headed by Yaroslav Davydovych, and resume the work of CEC, which was headed by Serhiy Kivalov on 8 December of 2004.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on 8 December of 2004 the Verkhovna Rada sacked the Central Electoral Commission, headed by Serhiy Kivalov, as they were suspected of rigging the presidential election.
