Hotel Leopolis in Lviv received the highest tourism industry award – World Travel Awards. Udo Heine,the General Director of Leopolis Hotel, reported about it during today`s press conference.
The team of the five-star Hotel Leopolis received the award for Best Ukrainian hotel at the ceremony in Belek, Turkey, on Friday 1st October, as stated in the transferred UNIAN press release.
“For our team this award was a big surprise, because we participated in the contest for the first time and it is a great honor even to be nominated for this prestigious competition. We competed with the most prestigious hotels in Ukraine and the fact itself that we got the best title - is a world recognition and a great victory not only for Leopolis, but also for our city. Now we can say - the best hotel of Ukraine is located in Lviv”, - said Udo Heine.
He said, the World Travel Awards itself - is not only a great honor, but also the responsible commitment to constantly keep the level of services in Leopolis at the highest level. Therefore Management of the Leopolis Hotel aim at further intensive development of the hotel. In particular, they already started work on building the second stage of the hotel project, where there will be located 35 extra superior and deluxe rooms, new restaurants, SPA, 2 conference halls, exquisite cocktail-bar and high class beauty salon. All construction works are planned to be completed by the time Euro 2012 will take place in Lviv.
The press release also states that this hotel won another local competition “The Face of the city 2010”, recently held by Lviv City Council and Lviv Chamber of Commerce, in the category "Euro 2012" – we create the history together”.
UNIAN’ s note: World Travel Awards is held annually, it is considered to be the most objective and unbiased. During the year voting is conducted by 183 000 tourism experts, which anonymously personally visited all nominated hotels, travel agencies, transport companies in 160 countries. The winners were determined in 1000 categories as a result of their estimations.
The Wall Street Journal compared the World Travel Awards in its importance and prestige in tourism industry with the famous Oscar in the world of cinema. Academy was founded in 1993 for awarding the highest achievements in the global tourism industry. The first awards ceremony took place in Hollywood, following the finals held in New York, Las Vegas, London, Kuala Lumpur. Since 2007, World Travel Awards has grown from one ceremony to several regional, which annually take place on each of the continents.
17th European Academy 2010 was held in Turkey in Rixos Premium Belek hotel. The Award ceremony was attended by leaders of the influential travel companies, operators and hotels throughout Europe.
