President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych met with Karel De Gucht, European Commissioner for Trade, according to the Press office of President Viktor Yanukovych.
The sides have discussed state and prospects of cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union.
Generally, the President noted, the Ukrainian side is satisfied with the present intensification of contacts between Ukraine and the EU at the highest political level.
"It generally points to the parties’ intent to resolve issues on the agenda constructive manner and move towards conclusion of the negotiations," Viktor Yanukovych said, adding that he means first of all the conclusion of an Association Agreement, including free trade provisions.
"The agreement on a comprehensive free trade is the work we are to do jointly with the European Commission," also said Viktor Yanukovych, adding that the Ukrainian side has proposed a mechanism, which could be applied in resolving this issue.
