Yanukovych meets Egyptian Foreign Minister

President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt Ahmed Aboul Gheit, according to the Press office of President Viktor Yanukovych.

At the beginning of the meeting the Minister handed over the letter of friendship from the President of Egypt to the President of Ukraine. Viktor Yanukovych on his part conveyed his greetings to the President of Egypt and an invitation to visit Ukraine at the time suiting him.

He stressed that the Ukrainian side attaches due attention to maintaining regular political dialogue between the two countries. "I believe that the highest level dialogue will boost the expansion and further intensification of bilateral contacts," Viktor Yanukovych said.

He noted that the Ukrainian side is satisfied with cooperation with Egypt in the aviation industry, and expressed hope that Egypt is interested in modern Antonov aircrafts produced in Ukraine.

He also expressed confidence that the current visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs will be a preparatory stage for the forthcoming visit of the President of Egypt to Ukraine. "Visit of President Hosni Mubarak, in our opinion, is important in terms of political perspective, and in the context of economic relations between our countries," Viktor Yanukovych said.

"We regard Egypt a major partner of Ukraine in Africa, the Middle East and Arab world," he said.

For his part, the Egyptian Foreign Minister expressed confidence that the President of his country "will accept the invitation to visit Ukraine with pleasure.”
