Leader of the Batkivshchyna party and former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has blamed the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine (PGO) of ignoring violations of the law by members of the current government, despite evidence that public funds are being used to enrich their families, according to the official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

"I have given them all the documents and at each interrogation I ask – and request that this be noted in the interrogation report – whether there will be a response to the crime committed when more than half a billion is transferred to the private accounts of officials and their sons, their relatives – into their private hands. Unfortunately, the Prosecutor General’s Office is not paying attention to this because they have received no political instructions," Yulia Tymoshenko told reporters today after her latest round of questioning at the PGO.

She said the PGO is disregarding these violations because they are part of the power vertical. "It’s obvious that Pshonka, who is essentially part of the Yanukovych family, is covering up all of this. He is providing protection for all the crimes being committed today in Ukraine."

On December 2, Yulia Tymoshenko demanded that the PGO open a criminal investigation into the misappropriation of public funds by the current government. She provided investigators with materials, reported in the press, about the transfer of budget funds to the accounts of private companies belonging to Donetsk governor Anatoliy Blyzniuk and the son of Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.
