President of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych believes that Ukraine has achieved significant results in the way of strengthening of freedom and democracy, appropriate level of development and implementation of effective reforms by stirring up and deepening of cooperation with the European Union.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, the head of the state said this during the meeting with EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele that took place in Kyiv today.
“It’s great that practically the first meeting in this year at international level took place with the representative of the European Commission”, noted the President of Ukraine.
He expressed a hope that current relations Ukraine –EU will bring a long-expected completion of negotiations on concluding of agreement on association and forming of the free trade zone.
Addressing to the EU Enlargement Commissioner he also noted that reforms in Ukraine today is not simply a declaration of intentions but it is a reality.
V. Yanukovych expressed a persuasion that 2011 will become a year of drastic reforms in Ukraine.
At the same time the head of the state noted that implementation of scale economic reforms is impossible without reforming of the political system of the state, carrying out of determined steps in a struggle against corruption and increasing of transparency of activity of state institutions.
At the same time the President of Ukraine informed the EU Enlargement Commissioner about continuation of improving of the Ukrainian electoral legislation.
