The energy of the birthplace of the great Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko gives her strength and courage to continue the fight for Ukraine, Yulia Tymoshenko, the leader of the Batkivshchyna party, said today, according to the Official website of Yulia Tymoshenko.
"I came here with my own special mission," Yulia Tymoshenko said today while visiting the village of Moryntsi, Cherkasy oblast, where Taras Shevchenko was born. "I want in these difficult times for Ukraine to take a personal oath to God and Taras Shevchenko that I will not give up or show weakness and together with the Ukrainian people will go down the path of freedom until we have the kind of Ukraine we’ve dreamed of, which Taras Shevchenko dreamed of, which we, our parents and children dream of. I vow that I will have the strength and courage to be with you on this path to victory."
Yulia Tymoshenko believes that Taras Shevchenko’s birthday should be a special day for every Ukrainian. "We must look at the present and ask ourselves whether we are satisfied with the lack of freedom, the injustice and a non-Ukrainian Ukraine. If the answer to all these questions is no, then the place where the great Taras Shevchenko was born is the best place for inspiration to fight for the kind of Ukraine the Ukrainian people want," she added.
Yulia Tymoshenko laid flowers at the monument to Taras Shevchenko in the village of Shevchenkove and the monument to his mother, and visited the restored house of the Shevchenko family. She also presented the Taras Shevchenko museum with a unique collection of works by the poet published in 1894.
