Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko is urging the EU to speed up the signing of an Association Agreement with Ukraine, according to Official website of Yulia Tymoshenko.
"I ask that you show maximum flexibility and willingness to compromise so that an Association Agreement, including an agreement on a free trade area between Ukraine and the EU, is signed by the end of the year," Yulia Tymoshenko said during a meeting today with European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso.
"We, for our part, will make every possible effort to ensure that Ukraine’s European prospects are realized," she said.
Jose Manuel Barroso praised Yulia Tymoshenko’s efforts and thanked her for her constructive position on this issue. "The European Commission is doing everything possible to bring Ukraine closer to the EU," he stressed.
Speaking about nuclear safety, Yulia Tymoshenko asked the president of the European Commission to include Ukraine in all European projects to improve safety at nuclear power plants.
Following the expanded format meeting, Yulia Tymoshenko and Jose Manuel Barroso met one-on-one.
