Defense Minister of Russia refused to speak to journalists in Mykolaiv

On April 19 Defense Minister of the Russian Federation Anatoliy Serdyukov refused to speak to journalists who had been waiting for the meeting with him for 5 hours.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, the military delegation of the Russian Federation headed by Defense Minister of Russia A. Serdyukov and the delegation of representatives of the defense complex of Ukraine headed by Defense Minister of Ukraine Mykhaylo Yezhel paid a working visit to Mykolaiv on Tuesday.

According to the press release of the Regional Media Center of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine (Odesa city), the main goal of the working visit was a discussion of issues of military and military-technical cooperation, and also arrangements reached during the 4th session of the Subcommittee on safety issues of the Ukrainian-Russian Interstate Commission that took place at the end of March this year.

In Mykolaiv A. Serdyukov and M. Yezhel acquainted themselves with capacities of enterprises of the shipbuilding industry and they also visited Black Sea shipbuilding factory.

It was said that the arrival of high-ranking officials was delayed for some hours because of breakdown of the aircraft. Journalists of Mykolaiv, Odesa and Kyiv gathered at 9.30 am and waited for the Ministers till 14.30 pm. When the Ministers arrived journalists hoped to receive interview of the Ministers concerning results of the visit. But neither A. Serdyukov nor M. Yezhel spoke to journalists.

When governor of the Mykolaiv Oblast Mykola Kruglov asked the Ministers to speak to journalists A. Serdyukov answered: “I did not invite them here! Speak yourself to them!”.

From Mykolaiv A. Serdyukov went to Kyiv where he is about to visit “Antonov” air enterprise.
