Batkivshchyna Party leader and ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has said that the Prosecutor General’s Office, after finishing the pre-trial investigation in the criminal case against her over gas agreements with Russian from 2009, is trying to require her to study the materials in this case, according to Official website of Yulia Tymoshenko.

"Today, in just a few hours, they charged me, investigated the case, conducted and examination, closed the pre-trial investigation, and tomorrow they’re suggesting that we acquaint ourselves with the case materials. But I’d like to remind the investigators that, according to the law, familiarization with case materials is voluntary," Yulia Tymoshenko said today after being held in the prosecutor’s office for nearly 8 hours.

According to her, today the investigator tried to serve her the latest summons for compulsory review of the materials in the criminal case. "Familiarization with case materials isn’t compulsory, it’s my voluntary right. I can refuse to review any of the trumped-up cases that are being born in a day," she added.

The former prime minister believes it was illegal for the investigator to try to summon her to appear on May 25. "But despite all this, I want to show once again that I am not like those who in 2005 fled to the Cayman Islands to hide from justice and responsibility," she stressed.

"I, unlike you, Mr. Yanukovych, won’t run, and even if I am illegally summoned tomorrow, I will show up, only to demonstrate that I am not afraid of you and to give millions of people added strength not to be afraid," she said.
