There is a tendency of trade turnover between Ukraine and Greece growing, President Viktor Yanukovych said at his today’s meeting with Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic Dimitris Droutsas, according to the Press office of President Viktor Yanukovych.

According to him, in the first quarter of 2011 the trade turnover has grown more than 90% compared to the same period in 2010.

"It is my pleasure to say that Greece remains for us a leading trade partner," he said, pointing to the gradual recovery in trade turnover between our countries after its decline due to the global financial crisis.

Ukraine and Greece have considerable potential for further development of their cooperation, the President said. "This potential stimulates us to increase attention and enhance our relations. Therefore, we believe that cooperation between our countries is very promising," Viktor Yanukovych said.

"The relations and ties between our countries are particularly close thanks to our history and culture," Dimitris Droutsas said.

He drew particular attention to the fact that Ukraine is home to a large Greek diaspora. According to the Minister, that is a very important factor that can "create a bridge to help strengthen and deepen the relations between our countries even more."
