Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has personally congratulated former head of the State Customs Service Anatoliy Makarenko and former head of the Kyiv Regional Customs Service Taras Shepitko on their release, according to the Official website of Yulia Tymoshenko.
Yulia Tymoshenko presented Makarenko’s and Shepitko’s wives with flowers and thanked their families for their bravery.
"These are true officers. They spent a whole year behind bars only because they performed their duty and returned to the country what should have belonged to it. They bravely withstood the pressure of the system and did not betray the good cause and their honest name during the interrogations. A true Ukrainian government should give awards for this, not prison sentences," said Yulia Tymoshenko.
"I’m very happy to see your joyful eyes, and I’m glad that true heroes Anatoliy Makarenko and Taras Shepitko will finally be with their families today," she told their wives.
