Eugenia Carr, the daughter of opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko, will join Hryhoriy Nemyria, Ms Tymoshenko’s foreign policy adviser on a 4-day visit to Strasbourg, France on 3-6 October, 2011, according to the Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko. The purpose of the trip is to update leading European politicians on the latest developments in the show trial of Ms Tymoshenko. Last night the former premier spent her 59th night in a prison cell at the Lukyanovsky detention facility.

Later today both Ms Carr and Mr Nemyria will address the floor at European People’s Party (EPP) Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Group Meeting along with a representative of The Danish Helsinki Committee for Human Rights and the former PACE co-rapporteur for Ukraine, Hanne Severinsen.

Ms Carr, who is a defender in her mother’s trial, will update EPP members on the latest from the trial and her mother’s personal circumstances and state of health.

Mr Nemyria and Ms Carr will have a number of private meetings with European politicians, including the Commissioner for Human Rights for the Council of Europe, Thomas Hammarberg and Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Mr Thorbjørn Jagland.
