President Viktor Yanukovych believes that the first ever official visit of Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to Ukraine will begin the highest level dialogue, open new prospects for bilateral cooperation, and bring cooperation between the two countries to a qualitatively new level, he said during today’s Ukrainian-Qatari talks, according to the Press office of President Viktor Yanukovych.
The President noted that the achievements of Qatar are well known throughout the world – in a short period time this state has become a politically influential and economically powerful country. "Qatar currently sets the pace of social-political processes in the Middle East, is a catalyst for progressive ideas and reform in the Arab world, makes active efforts to establish a dialogue between civilizations," Viktor Yanukovych stressed.
Currently, Ukraine is going through political transformations and social-economic reforms, he said. He also drew attention to the similarity of the positions of Ukraine and Qatar on important international issues. According to Viktor Yanukovych, this may be the basis for further development of bilateral cooperation between our countries.
"I am confident that Ukraine and Qatar could be an example of developing an effective and mutually beneficial cooperation between the peoples of different cultures and civilizations," the President said. Continuous political dialogue at the highest and high levels should be the basis for strengthening cooperation between our countries, he added.
