Delegates of SDPU(U) convention, which takes place in Kyiv today, accepted the resignation of Victor Medvedchuk from the post of the party chief.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, journalists were told about this by one of SDPU(U) leaders, Labor and Social Policy Minister Mykhaylo Papiyev.
He recalled that V.Medvedchuk sent in his resignation as early as after the parliamentary election of 2006, considering that SDPU(U) lost the election.
“Today his resignation was accepted”, he said.
V.Medvedchuk himself was not present at the convention.
Asked by journalists to comment on possible candidacies for the post of the SDPU(U) front-runner, M.Papiyev said this post may be occupied by Vadym Misiura, Ihor Shurma, Nestor Shufrych, Yuri Zahorodniy, and himself.
