FC Shakhtar Donetsk coach Mircea Lucescu has suffered several broken ribs and a lung laceration after the 66-year-old Romanian was involved in a car accident in Bucharest, according to UEFA.com.

FC Shakhtar Donetsk coach Mircea Lucescu has suffered a number of injuries after a car accident in Bucharest.

The 66-year-old, who guided the Pitmen to UEFA Cup success in 2009, broke seven ribs and suffered a lung laceration during the incident. Doctors are yet to decide how to further treat his injuries but he is expected to need up to six weeks to fully recover. Shakhtar were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League after finishing bottom of Group G but sit second in the Ukrainian Premier League, one point adrift of leaders FC Dynamo Kyiv.
