The Government of Ukraine and the Secretariat of the President are planned that on Independence Day, on August 24, Head of State Victor Yushchenko and Prime Minister Victor Yanukovych will together take part in holiday measures at Sofijska Square.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, Vice Prime Minister Dmytro Tabachnyk said this at the session of the Organizational Committee on preparing for celebrations of Independence Day.

It is planed that V. Yanukovych will arrive at the Square at 08.50 am, and V. Yushchenko – at 8.55 am.

In his turn, first deputy Head of Staff of the President co-chairman of the Organizational Committee Ivan Vasunik noted that “the President hopes that the holiday will take place in the spirit of consolidation under the flag of Ukraine.”
