On the eve of the 16th anniversary of Independence of Ukraine, on State Flag Day of Ukraine President Victor Yushchenko laid wreaths at the monuments to prominent Ukrainian figures - Taras Shevchenko, Mykhailo Hrushevsky and Volodymyr the Great.

According to the press service of the President, the Head of State noted the memory of victims of the Great Famine 1932-1933 by the minute of silence and laid a wreath to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
