The airport complex at Boryspil International Airport has been named the best in the sphere of international airports of CIS countries, according to Information Centre Ukraine-2012. The Honorary Diploma of the Interstate Aviation Committee was awarded to the main air gate of the country in Moscow within the 32nd session of plenipotentiaries of States which are Parties to the Intergovernmental Agreement on Civil Aviation and Use of Airspace, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine reports.
Today the technical capabilities of Boryspil Airport are unique to Ukraine, the CIS and Eastern Europe. In particular, runway number 1 meets the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization and can receive all types of aircraft around the clock, including in conditions of limited visibility.
These features appeared due to the introduction of a lightning system, which is a first for the CIS. High intensity lights and impulsive lights have been fixed on the runway, and a system for regulating and controlling single lamps is in operation. There is also a system of remote management and control of equipment in place at each facility. An early ice detection system is also in use. The
aerodrome at Boryspil Airport has repeatedly been awarded the prize of best airport in the CIS and Eastern Europe.
