Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn will pay an official visit to Japan on March 7-11.

The press service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine disclosed to UNIAN that the head of the parliament will hold meetings at the highest level in Tokyo, he will also visit prefectures Fukushima and Miyagi.

V. Lytvyn underlined in an interview to Rada parliamentary television channel today that Ukraine and Japan are the countries “twinned by peaceful atom”. He reminded that the Japanese side “refers towards Ukraine correspondingly because of the accident at Chernobyl NPP”, “studies carefully our experience concerning overcoming of the same catastrophe in their country”.

The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine said that during the visit it is planned to discuss issues of the further development of cooperation in this area and also a wide range of issues of the political-economic cooperation including the parliamentary component of the bilateral relations.
