VRU starts consideration of issue on appointment of new ombudsman

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine starts consideration of an issue concerning appointment of new ombudsman of the VRU on human rights.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, before starting consideration Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn reminded that two candidacies are offered for this post.

In particular, the members of the BYUT-Batkivshchyna faction and the OU-PSD faction submitted the candidacy of co-chairman of Kharkiv human rights group Yevgeniy Zakharov; representatives of the Party of Regions faction offered the candidacy of Commissioner of the Government of Ukraine to the European Court of Human Rights Valeria Lutkovska.
