Tomorrow Verkhovna Rada to consider amendments to Constitution
Concerning lifting immunity and privileges – Bohatyriova
Tomorrow the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the 5th convocation will not consider the draft law on introducing amendments into the Constitution of Ukraine concerning the local governments, but will consider only the amendments, connected with lifting the lawmakers immunity and privileges.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, parliamentary majority coordinator Raisa Bohatyriova claimed this in an interview to journalists after a sitting of the coalition’s coordinating council.
She disclosed that presently they continue collecting lawmakers signatures under the draft law on introducing amendments into the Constitution concerning lifting lawmakers immunity and privileges.
According to R.Bohatyriova, there is an agreement with lawmakers, that is why they will for sure collect the necessary number of signatures (to consider this issue, it is necessary to collect 150 signatures of lawmakers - UNIAN).
R.Bohatyriova noted that the working group is working out the final wording of the draft law provisions. She stressed that neither the President of Ukraine, nor oppositional lawmakers did not answer the invitation to take part in the parliament session tomorrow and to vote for lifting the lawmakers immunity and privileges.
According to her, they, probably, “are afraid to lift the lawmakers and president’s immunity, that is why they shrank into a corner and do not answer”. “Probably, they will not come, they are afraid”, R.Bohatyruova said.
She confirmed that the parliament will work only tomorrow, and after that lawmakers will work in their districts for a week.
