Ukrainians have chosen their 10 most favourite national cuisine meals, which will be included in the menu offered to Euro-2012 guests in the restaurants of host cities, according to Information Centre Ukraine-2012.

The National Menu comprises: Ukrainian borsch (beetroot and cabbage soup), Zaporizhzhya-style cabbage soup, fatty pork (back fat) with garlic, jellied minced meat, traditional potato pancakes, home-made sausage, pancakes with cheese, baked young port with boiled buckwheat, cabbage and mushroom dumplings as well as apple cake.

According to the official website of the Relish, Ukraine! Contest for the best Ukrainian meal, all 10 winners will be included in the list of meals in the project’s partner restaurants as National Menu.

Voting for the best Ukrainian meal goes on. The one that will receive the maximum number of online and SMS votes will be awarded the title of Ukraine’s National Meal.

Results will be announced on the International Family Day on 15 May 2012.

The Relish, Ukraine! contest started on 15 February. Participants sent in recipes of the meals regarded by them as traditional for Ukrainian national cuisine in the course of a month. The contest jury, which consists of restaurant keepers, ethnographers, historians and head chefs have chosen the 10 most delicious ones in national menu from among them.

The Relish, Ukraine! contest is being conducted with the support and assistance of Ukraine’s Agricultural Policy Ministry in order to popularize Ukrainian culture among Euro-2012 guests.
