Yulia Tymoshenko does not trust government doctors and wants to be treated by independent physicians, her lawyer Serhiy Vlasenko has said, according to the Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko. “Yulia Tymoshenko does not trust the doctors from the Ministry of Health or officials from the state penitentiary service`s medical department. Every day for the past six months, these people have been writing that Tymoshenko is healthy, allowing her to be interrogated by investigators and other case-related activities. So it’s probably illogical and unwise to allow people who still yesterday were saying she’s healthy to pick the medical facility where she will be treated,” Serhiy Vlasenko said today, commenting on the statement by the Ministry of Health that they plan to provide Yulia Tymoshenko treatment at the Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) Central Clinical Hospital in Kharkiv.
The lawyer stressed that Yulia Tymoshenko is also insisting that she be treated according to the recommendations made by the German physicians that examined her in prison in February. “Yulia Tymoshenko has held the same position since February 14, and it has not changed. She is insisting strict adherence to the treatment protocol set by the German physicians, and that she be treated by independent doctors. These are two positions that Yulia Tymoshenko insists on. The treatment can take place in any specialized clinical institution that specializes in back problems,” he said.
Today, on instructions from Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka, the press service of the Ministry of Health announced the formation of the latest ministerial commission of “highly qualified professionals” to examine Yulia Tymoshenko and plans "to organize treatment in a specialized medical facility in Kharkiv, namely the Ukrzaliznytsia Central Clinical Hospital."
