The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday announced an increase in nonimmigrant visa fees for U.S. citizens, according to Xinhua.

"Ukraine and the U.S. adhere to proportional policy of visa fees. On April 13 the U.S. Department of State increased visa fees for Ukrainian citizens. Thus, Ukraine visa fees for U.S. passport-holders will go up too," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Dykusarov.

U.S. applicants for Ukraine tourist, business and student visas will pay an application fee of 160 U.S. dollars, instead of 140 dollars, Dykusarov said.

He said those seeking petition-based visas will pay an application fee of 190 U.S. dollars, instead of 150 dollars.

The Foreign Ministry is now working through the issue and it is still unknown when the new fees will go into effect, Dykusarov said.
