Guy Verhofstadt, chair of the Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe in the European Parliament, has condemned the Ukrainian authorities for not allowing Yulia Tymoshenko to attend the funeral of her father-in-law, Hennadiy Tymoshenko, according to the Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

"I deplore that. When you lose someone that is part of your family the least you can do is go to the funeral. This decision was made by the Ukrainian authorities," Guy Verhofstadt said.

"Yulia Tymoshenko was sad because she just lost her father-in-law," the MEP said after his meeting today with the ex-premier.
