U.S. Senator and Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin visited Ukraine May 27-28 and met with President Viktor Yanukovych and other Ukrainian officials, including Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and Foreign Minister Kostyantyn Gryshchenko, to encourage progress in Ukraine towards more freedom, democracy, and development of a strong market economy, according to the Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

"Senator Durbin also met with members of opposition parties and with Yevhenia Tymoshenko, daughter of imprisoned former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko. Senator Durbin returned to the subject of the imprisonment of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko in every meeting. The Senator stressed that the United States sees this as a case of selective prosecution and that Tymoshenko should be released," the U.S. Embassyin Kyiv reported.
