Implementation of principle of social justice is relevant for our country. It was stated by the President at the celebrations of Day of Tax Service, according to Press office of President Viktor Yanukovych. He pointed out that the world actively uses tax levers today to reduce the social stratification of citizens.
The President noted that first steps toward differentiation of tax rates on personal income in the Tax Code had been taken. «But I am confident that situation in Ukraine calls for the implementation of more efficient instruments of ensuring social justice,» he said.
The Head of State also expressed confidence that it is necessary to broaden the scale of progressive tax on the basis of fundamental forecast calculations. In particular, it is reasonable to expand the number of its steps increasing the rate for the wealthiest citizens. «The main thing is to provide reduced rate for people with low income,» the President emphasized.
In this context, Viktor Yanukovych called for consideration of other instruments of very high income redistribution through the tax mechanism. In particular it is about the introduction of taxation of luxury goods. «The draft law regulating this issue is always modified and the time of its introduction is always postponed,» - the President said. He noted that in many countries the similar tax has long been idle and it plays an anti-crisis role.
