Court ruled President has right to take part in election campaigning

Today the board of judges of the Kyiv Okruzhny administrative court established that President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko has a right to take part in election campaigning and cancelled the decree of the Central Electoral Commission of Ukraine, which forbade the President to campaign for Our Ukraine – People’s Self-Defense Bloc.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, the court also claimed that the CEC, having made the decision to forbid, exceeded its authorities and violated the legislation.

This ruling may be appealed against in the Supreme Administrative Court of Ukraine.
