Source: Lytvyn to sign language law and remain Speaker
Volodymyr Lytvyn will remain Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and will sign the law on language policy.“High-ranking source in the Cabinet of Ministers” said this to Segodnya newspaper.
Edition notes that earlier one of the lawmakers of Lytvyn’s Bloc said that decision on the language law will be made as a result of the sociological measurement in his district in the Zhytomyr Oblast. The newspaper writes that probably the results showed that signature under the law Kolesnichenko-Kivalov will not influence rating of popularity of V. Lytvyn in the district or will influence insignificantly.
A source in the Party of Regions faction also said to Segodnya newspaper that extraordinary session of the Verkhovna Rada scheduled for July 31 may not take place; it was planned to choose a substitute for V. Lytvyn during this session.
