Stetskiv rules out forming a broad coalition on the basis of Party of Regions and OU-PSD
He called the Yushchenko’s statement “his personal point of view”
Our Ukraine-People’s Self Defense Bloc member Taras Stetskiv rules out forming a broad parliamentary coalition on the basis of the Party of Regions and OU-PSD.
He said this to an UNIAN correspondent today, commenting on the statement of President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko, who claimed that he expects the Party of Regions, BYuT, Our Ukraine-People’s Self-Defense and the Lytvyn Bloc to demonstrate political wisdom and take steps aimed at consolidating Ukraine around national priorities.
“When we formed the Bloc with Our Ukraine, the People’s Self-Defense signed an agreement, in which we were guaranteed a refusal from creating a coalition with the Party of Regions. We will not join any broad coalition”, T.Stetskiv said.
At the same time, he called the Yushchenko’s statement “a personal point of view of the President”. “But, as he made this unexpected statement, it is necessary that OU-PSD political council gather and decide whether the Bloc supports this opinion of the President or not”, he believes.
Meanwhile, he added that People’s Self-Defense is ready to support the candidacy of Viacheslav Kyrylenko for the post of the Verkhovna Rada Speaker.
