Two people were killed in an experimental airplane crash near Zaporozhe city in southern Ukraine Monday, the Ukrainian Emergency Situations Ministry reported, according to Xinhua.
The crash occurred at 1:10 p.m. local time (1110 GMT), when a small aircraft went down shortly after takeoff during the test flight, killing two pilots onboard, the ministry said.
The plane belonged to small Dnepropetrovsk-based private company and was designed by local scientists, it said, without specifying details.

The cause of the accident remains unknown and an investigation is under way.
