The Ukrainian authorities not have allowed Walburga Habsburg Douglas, vice president of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and head of the OSCE election observer mission to Ukraine, and Matteo Mecacci, chair of the OSCE PA Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions, to visit with former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, according to Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

"We were told that a meeting is impossible because Yulia Tymoshenko is on a hunger strike. A refusal like this is a violation of fundamental human rights and those rights that every OSCE member country should respect, especially the country that plans to chair the OSCE next year," said Walburga Habsburg Douglas.

She said that she received permission for a meeting with Yulia Tymoshenko over the weekend, but was informed today that a visit was not possible. "Unfortunately, the fact that today we couldn’t meet with Yulia Tymoshenko only confirms our statement about the reversal of democracy in Ukraine," stressed the OSCE PA vice president.
