Batkivshchyna Party leader and former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko continues her hunger strike in protest of the falsification of the results of the Ukrainian parliamentary elections held on October 28, according to the Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

"Yulia Tymoshenko’s hunger strike continues. The aim is to draw attention to the massive fraud in these elections, including at precincts in Kyiv, Vinnytsia and Zytomyr," said lawyer Serhiy Vlasenko.

According to him, prison authorities don’t have the right to force-feed Yulia Tymoshenko. "According to Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights, forcing someone to eat amounts to torture. The European Court of Human Rights has repeatedly stated that force-feeding is a human rights violation, including in their judgments on cases involving Ukraine," the lawyer said.

"Ukraine ratified the European Convention, therefore it’s part of Ukrainian law," Vasenko stressed.

Yulia Tymoshenko has been on a hunger strike since October 29.
