President of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych will pay a state visit to India on December 9-12.

According to the press service of the President of Ukraine, chief of staff of the Administration of the President of Ukraine Serhiy Lyovochkin said this.

According to the words of S. Lyovochkin, an urgency of the visit is conditioned by necessity of ensuring of further development of relations with the countries of South Asia, which is important direction of the Ukrainian foreign policy.

During the meeting the head of the Ukrainian state will hold a range of meeting, in particular, with President of India Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh, Vice President of India Mohammad Hamid Ansari and Foreign Minister of India Salman Khurshid.

The President of Ukraine is about to discuss a range of issues concerning the Ukrainian- Indian cooperation, primarily, in trade-economic, scientific and technical, investment, cultural and humanitarian areas.

In accordance with the program of the visit it is planned that the President of Ukraine will take part in work of the Ukrainian-Indian forum. This event will promote development of contacts among business circles of Ukraine and India, and realization of mutually beneficial business projects.

As a result of the visit an announcement of the Joint statement of the heads of the states is planned, and signing of the bilateral documents, in particular, concerning render of the mutual legal assistance, cooperation in scientific and technical, nuclear security and health care area is also planned.

“The state visit of the President of Ukraine to India will not only promote renewal of contacts at the highest level but will also give an impetus to deepening of the bilateral political dialogue and expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation with India”, - said S. Lyovochkin.
