The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the 7th convocation will start its work today.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, the solemn sitting of the parliament will start at 10.00 am.

As a result of the parliamentary elections, which took place on October 28,  by the lists of the political parties 225 lawmakers from the Party of Regions, the Batkivshchyna party, the UDAR party, the Communist party of Ukraine and Svoboda party entered the VRU and also 220 lawmakers elected in majoritarian districts entered the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

At the solemn sitting the lawmakers will take the oath to faithfulness of the Ukrainian people and they will personally sign the text of the oath. After that they will receive cards for voting and permanent certifications of lawmakers. The solemn part will last from 10.00 am till 12.00 pm.

The 1st sitting of the 1st session of the parliament of the new convocation will start at 12.00 pm. It is planned to form a temporary presidium, which will coordinate work of the parliament till election of the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and his deputies.

According to preliminary data, the temporary presidium will consist of chairman of the preparatory group on organization of work of the VR Volodymyr Lytvyn, from the Party of Regions – Oleksandr Yefremov, from the Batkivshchyna – Andriy Kozhemyakin, from the CPU – Petro Symonenko, from the UDAR – Vitaliy Kovalchuk and from Svoboda – Ruslan Koshulynskyi.

After that it is planned to make decision of the parliament on giving consent to appointment of Mykola Azarov for the post of Prime Minister.

After that the lawmakers plan to get down to consideration of issue concerning formation of factions and committees.

Moreover, President of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych addressed newly elected lawmakers on day of opening of the 1st session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the 7th convocation in video address. This video address was recorded before the departure of the head of the state to India, where he is on a state visit from December 9 to December 12.

In whole 300 guests are invited to the solemn sitting.
