Police suspect a grenade was the cause of an explosion that killed one person and injured two others at a university in western Ukraine on Thursday, according to Xinhua.

The blast ripped through a building at Chernivtsi city's Medical University at noon (1000 GMT), police said.

A 62-year-old man, who allegedly brought the grenade to the university, was found dead at the scene. One student and a teacher had minor injuries.

According to unconfirmed local media reports, the dead man was a former border guard who had a conflict with a university teacher. Further investigation is underway.
