The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) on January 17, 2013 closed the fabricated case against Yulia Tymoshenko involving alleged state guarantees given to the United Energy Systems of Ukraine corporation, lawyer Oleksandr Plakhotnyuk has announced, according to an Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

"The defense obtained a copy of the PGO resolution closing the criminal proceedings in the case in which Yulia Tymoshenko was accused of attempting to steal money from the state budget due to the absence of a crime in her actions. It’s written in black and white in the resolution," Oleksandr Plakhotnyuk said.

"This is further proof that the criminal charges against Yulia Tymoshenko are groundless," said the ex-premier’s lawyer.

The PGO’s resolution was signed by R. Psyuk, senior counselor of justice and senior prosecutor of the second department for the management of procedural guidance of pre-trial investigations in support of the state prosecution.

"Criminal proceedings into the committing by Y.V. Tymoshenko, with prior agreement with P.I. Lazarenko, of attempted misappropriation of foreign property – funds from the state budget of Ukraine through abuse of her official position, in large amounts, a criminal offense under section 2 of article 15 and section 5 of article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, are closed due to the absence of the act of this crime," reads the resolution.
