The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe within a framework of its competence is ready to render a necessary assistance to Ukraine for signing of Agreement on association between Ukraine and the European Union, but Ukraine should speed up advancement to the standards of the Council of Europe.
The press service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine disclosed to UNIAN that President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Jean-Claude Mignon said this during the meeting with Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak.
“I arrived in Ukraine as the PACE President, as your partner. We are here in order to support and help, - he noted. “We reckon on Ukraine”.
The PACE President hailed adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine the Statement “On realization of European integration intentions of Ukraine and conclusion of Agreement on association between Ukraine and the European Union”. “I hail the fact that there is unanimous opinion concerning Agreement on association”, - he said.
