Investigating Judge Oksana Tsarevych of the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv has begun today’s hearing to conduct investigative actions in the fabricated case against Yulia Tymoshenko in which she is accused of complicity in the 1996 murder of MP Yevhen Shcherban, according to official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

The court, in the absence of Yulia Tymoshenko, has begun questioning Vitaliy Haiduk, who in 1994-1997 held senior positions in the Donetsk Oblast Council and Donetsk Oblast State Administration.

Yulia Tymoshenko’s legal defenders requested that Vitaliy Haiduk and Serhiy Taruta be questioned in court. These witnesses had been interrogated by investigators from the prosecutor’s office as part of the pre-trial investigation but the state prosecutors tried to prevent them from being questioned publicly in court because they testified that there were no conflicts between Yevhen Shcherban and Yulia Tymoshenko.
