Leading Ukrainian doctors have appealed to Viktor Yanukovych to release former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko from prison and allow her to undergo treatment abroad, according to the official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

"We ask that you make the decision to release former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, who has serious health problems and needs full treatment, allow her to obtain proper treatment abroad, and ensure her complete legal and political rehabilitation," the appeal said.

The doctors stated that Yulia Tymoshenko has not received proper medical care from the onset of her illness, causing it to become chronic and threatening to leave her disabled. "Right now Yulia Tymoshenko needs modern treatment methods available abroad. Foreign doctors have repeatedly expressed their readiness to accept the ex-premier for treatment abroad, in particular the Charité hospital in Germany, which would be beneficial and correct," the Ukrainian doctors stressed.
