Сhairman of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs Elmar Brok says Yulia Tymoshenko should be released immediately based on today’s judgment delivered by the European Court of Human Right in the case Tymoshenko v. Ukraine, according to the official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.
"The ruling by the European Court of Human Rights confirms the trial against Ms Tymoshenko was politically motivated. Ms Tymoshenko must be freed immediately," Elmar Brok said.
The MEP stressed that in its judgment the European Court of Human Rights found that Yulia Tymoshenko’s arrest was "arbitrary". "The ruling illustrates the necessity for Ukraine to end its selective justice as a pre-condition for signing the association agreement," he said, adding that "Ukraine is still miles away from fulfilling European standards".
