Today at the sitting of the government Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov demanded to deprive journalists, who at the beginning of his opening address took part in an action of silence in support of their colleagues, who were beaten on May 18 in Kyiv, of accreditation.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, at the beginning of the speech of the Prime Minister about 10 journalists held a banner that said: “Journalist today – tomorrow – your daughter, wife, child”.
About 10 journalists from different mass media took part in the action.
M. Azarov said: “What’s this? A concert? I ask you not to turn the sitting of the government…If these are journalists, deprive them of accreditation in the Cabinet of Ministers, write down their names and surnames, and deprive them of accreditation”.
After that the Prime Minister offered the participants of the action to leave the session hall and “not to impede a work of the government”.
M. Azarov said that the authority respects a work of journalists, but will not allow turning a work of the Cabinet of Ministers into a circus.
